Description

For a number of years, I carried jewelry made by Joanne Van Wyck. First a favored supplier, she became a close friend. I miss her, and her eye for color and style.

This Joanne Van Wyck necklace features beads she had especially made for her line in Guatemala. She put together colors in lovely combinations and whimsical designs, as you can see from this sample of her work. It features the turtles, birds, and fish so often a part of her creations.

The necklace measures 32 inches long at its maximum length. However, the top draw-type fastener allows you to shorten the length if your costume would be better served by such a change. The beads are strung on eight strands.

I’m guessing Joanne used natural silk beading cord, which is very strong. This cord has the appearance of being twisted and is available in any color. One of the strands is actually a double strand of two colors twisted together, in this case navy and green, a technique she used to add more strength and texture to the necklace.

The necklace is well-constructed and has no flaws or breaks. You could enjoy many years of use from this colorful and versatile accessory.
