Fossil Ammonite Pendant With Large Faceted Garnet Stone

Description

This interesting fossil ammonite pendant is set in a sterling silver bezel, and features a large faceted garnet attached above it, also in a silver frame. At the top is a large sterling bale for chain or cord.

The front of the pendant has been given a smooth finish. If you prefer the back side of the fossil, which shows the shell more clearly, you can wear it reversed, as the faceted garnet stone shows through on either side.

The ammonite comes from a distinctive class of extinct invertebrates. These fall within the Phylum Mollusca. They lived in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic Eras, which occurred approximately 408 to 65 million years ago.

It’s pretty easy to see the relationship between this fossil and the modern chambered nautilus.

The pendant measures 1-1/4 inches across and 1-1/8 inches at its widest point. If you are excited and intrigued by ancient things, this fossil might be a “must have” item.
