Labradorite And Garnet Stones Set In Silver, Earrings Made In Bali
Labradorite has become one of my favorite stones. The inner fire makes this plain stone come alive with reflected light. This pair has a blue-green glow that seems to come from deep within the stone.
This stone was first found in 1770 on the Canadian peninsula of Labrador, hence the name. Also called spectrolite, it displays a play of color in lustrous metallic tints, from blue and green to gold and purple.
This pair, set in silver, was made in Indonesia. The French hooks are handmade sterling. The bottom labradorite stone, set in a plain silver bezel, measures 5/8 inch long by 1/2 inch across. The small red garnet above the labradorite measures 3/16 inch across. Total length from attached ear wire to base of the earring measures 1-1/4 inches long.
